Soooo, I ended up subscribing to Julep, Conscious Box, Toothbrush Subscription and Unmentionably Cheeky today. ONLY did this because I stumbled across codes for discounts on them all (except the toothebrush one – I had already planned to subscribe to that one). Unmentionably Cheeky was only $6 (including shipping). Conscious Box was $7 (for shipping – the box itself was free) and Julep was $4 (for shipping – box itself was free). I’ll likely have to cancel them all next month (except maybe Unmentionably Cheeky which stays at $6 every month).I couldn’t even really afford them this month but I DO love getting mail. It puts me in a better mood when my moods are trying to dip into depression and inability to get anything done. So, it’s good to have things set in place to be mailed to me just in case my moods start to plummet. Cheap things with free Prime shipping on Amazon also work well for this. Still I will likely end up canceling Julep (or just skipping every month) and subscribing to Bonjour Jolie in the summer. Conscious Box may also be canceled after a month or so and swapped out for Lootcrate. That is unless I find a good job and am able to keep them all. ALL the subscription boxes I’d like to be subscribed to add up to be around $150 total a month including shipping, I think. With a job I could get all of these. Especially since I don’t spend much money on anything else recreational. I buy used dvds on occasion and I buy and mail postcards. That’s about it. Add to that that not all the subscription boxes ARE recreational (some are necessities) and yeah….it’s a good deal. Anyway, on to the boxes.
Julep is makeup (mostly nail polish it seems which I rarely use). I definitely won’t be keeping this subscription for long (or I’ll be skipping a lot of months) but I felt it was worth trying for $3.99. If you’d like to get a free box from Julep use this link and the code FREEBOX. You’ll get a box for just $3.99 shipping and I’ll get some kind of bonus for referring you. We both win. 🙂 Also, it apparently really easy to skip months if you don’t want any of the boxes offered (you get to pick what you want each month – this isn’t a surprise box). So, that makes it even more worth signing up.
Unmentionably Cheeky is a surprise subscription box of underwear. You get two pair every month. The Unmentionably Cheeky code to lock in a rate of $6 a month for life is FALL13 but I see a lot of complaints from people having issues with canceling their subscriptions. So, be aware of that. It may take you more than one try to get your subscription cancelled if you decide you don’t want to continue it. I had really wanted to try Splendies since they offer 3 pairs and seem less lace obsessed then UC is (I hate lace…its itchy) but Splendies is $12 a month and this is $6. Plus, UC offers an x-small size and Splendies does not. And I don’t like underwear being to large on me. That’s really annoying. It’s iffy with Smalls. Sometimes they fit me correctly but most often they do not. Victoria Secret and Target both for example I can only wear an X-small and even those stretch out very quickly. So, I’m trying UC now and I’ll probably try Splendies later and I’ll stick whichever one I like best.
Conscious Box is organic and all natural products, including snacks, supplements and body care products. They have three options classic, vegan and gluten free. I chose the gluten free of course. I’m iffy on this one but I have been wanting to try it. So, I figured it was worth trying while it is shipping only. Conscious Box code to get your first box for shipping only is ONEFREE, I think. I’m not sure if they do any kind of referral thing but if they ask for referral info feel free to enter my name and email address (Tina Edwards email@example.com).
Toothbrush Subscription are insanely cheap toothbrushes (they have a variety and you pick whichever one or ones you want) shipped every month, two months or three months (you choose). Shipping is always free. It’s really just a convenience service that saves you from having to remember when to get a new toothbrush because face it none of us ever remember that. I chose the ADA approved $5 toothbrush. I’m hoping the bristles aren’t to soft, though. Soft bristles bother me.
The two subscription boxes I am already subscribed to are The Honest Company Essentials bundle and the ipsy glam bag.
I got my first ipsy bag today and I must say that I’m not impressed but I have read reviews and most people aren’t happy with this one. It is apparently a rare not great bag. It had mostly non-makeup products and a boring looking bag. I’ll be re-gifting the bag and one of the items. The others I may keep and use on occasion. They’re small sizes and none have ingredients I absolutely can’t use (except the one that I’m not keeping which has wheat in it). ipsy (www.ipsy.com) is $8 a month (including shipping) and you get 5-6 products (usually in sample sizes) and a small exclusive makeup bag. It’s a good deal and even this months is way over the value of what I paid for it. I don’t know if they do referrals but if they ask and you want to use me my username is True1013 and my email as I said before is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Honest Company was the first subscription box I ever signed up for. I get their Essentials Bundle. It saves me a LOT of money on my basic bath and cleaning essentials. They sell pure products that are hypoallergenic, gentle and free of harsh chemicals but that really work. They were the first ever body wash I could use without breaking out and/or being itchy. If you want to sign up you can try some sample for just shipping. And if you decide to subscribe you choose your ship date and the products you receive. So, you only get what you need. It’s 5 full size products for $35. If you want to try it out (and would like help me out by giving me a referral credit you can use this link:
Since I love reading subscription box reviews I will likely eventually write my own. I’m not doing that for now, though. I don’t really have enough of an opinion on the ipsy products to review them.
