This was my first Conscious Box. I got it on special for $8 (shipping only). They’re usually $20 (including shipping). They have three options Vegan, Classic or Gluten Free. I chose the Gluten Free. I do wish they had a gluten free & vegan combo box option. Then I wouldn’t get dairy products. They ship once a month.
Anyway, this was my first month and I LOVE this box. I’m definitely hoping to be able to afford to keep it. I don’t have a way to post photos right now but I will list what I got in my box, along with descriptions of the items and links (if I can find them) to the companies. I’ll also include my opinion of the product (if I have tried it already).
On my first look into this box I was amazed. It’s packed FULL and it contained what appeared to be several full size products. Since looking them up I know now that most of them are sample sizes but they definitely are much bigger than the samples I’m use to seeing.
The first thing I saw was the MelanSol Sunscreen. It’s broad spectrum SPF 20. The tube I got is 3.4 ounces. Which is a full size product. It sells for $30. Here is the listing on Amazon:
The only official website i could find for this product is in German but it does translate for you:
I haven’t tried this. I’m saving it for summer but I’m really impressed that I got a full size bottle of expensive sunscreen in a box I paid $8 for (and even at full price the box costs less than this sunscreen does on Amazon).
The next thing I saw was the Bee Rescued Propolis Toothpaste. This has tea tree oil and clove in it. It smells awesome. I’m going to brush my teeth with it tonight but honestly I really want to eat it. I love clove.
There is the official website. It’s $10 for 8oz. I’m not sure how big my sample is. I would guess about 3oz. It’s a pretty big sample.
Next up: Quinn Popcorn: Parmesan and Rosemary. This looked and sounded like it would be good. It had the microwavable popcorn with an oil packet and a seasoning packet. It was only one pack. So, it was a sample, not a full sized product. I shouldn’t eat this at all (and I currently have a sore raw throat from trying it….my immune system no longer likes dairy at all) but I wanted to try it…….I wasn’t impressed. It tasted….odd. It was almost sour and the rosemary was barely tastable. I took about three bites and decided it wasn’t worth feeling bad for. Even though I got the sore throat anyway. I didn’t know three bites would cause it. I gave the to my dogs. They seemed to really like it. Some people, i’m sure, would also like it and I might like other flavors myself. This one just tasted bland to me.
The official website lists a maple and sea salt flavor that sounds pretty amazing. I’d like to try that one.
The first of the products that I actually tried was The Fay Farm Warming Muscle Rub. I loved the smell and feel of this. It isn’t super greasy. I immediately used it to massage my boyfriends neck. He wasn’t a fan of the smell and he couldn’t feel a warming at all. I felt a slight warming but not much of one and it didn’t last long. I do like the feel and smell enough that I would buy it if I was looking for a massage rub. My sample is .5oz.
Nordic Naturals Vitamin D Gummies. This was a sample of only one gummie. So, I can’t attest to if it really did anything. It tasted ok. I’m not a fan of gummies at all. So, I wouldn’t buy these for myself, obviously.
Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet Supplements. This was a sample of two soft gels. Obviously, again I can’t attest to if they really did anything. I gave one to each dog (technically the big dog needed four of them since the serving size said 1 pill per 20lbs, he’s about 80lbs, but I didn’t want to leave out the little dog so they both got 1). They chewed them up. The little dog even licked up the oil that spilled on the couch. Then they both came back wanting more. So, I guess they taste good. These are suppose to be good for skin and coat. The little dog has some major skin issues. So, I may actually buy some of these for her.
Flora Essence Detox 1oz Sample. This is a one serving sample. It’s suppose to detox your body. It says it helps digestive issues. Which I have a lot of. So, I’m eager to try it. I’m not sure when I will though. I don’t know exactly what it will do. So, I’m afraid to try it when I may be busy and I’m busy all week. So, maybe I’ll try it on Saturday.
Bio Bag Pet Waste Bag. I mean, it’s a little bag. It’s intended use is to pick up poop and I’m sure I will use it when traveling but I’m unsure of how to review it. A bag is a bag to me. I am linking the website below, though. So, it you want to know all about these recycled, biodegradable bags you can read it all there.
The prices for them really aren’t bad for what they are. I personally use my old grocery bags, though. I find that repurposing these bags as pet waste bags and bathroom trashbags is the best way for me to recycle.
BumBoosa Baby Wipes. This is a sample of one wipe. I’ll put it in my purse first aid kit. I’m sure I will use it sometime soon. It’s a baby wipe made from bamboo. Which seems odd but interesting.
Zarbee’s Naturals Daytime Cough & Throat Relief drink in Apple Cider flavor. This is a one serving sample. I may try this for my allergy induced sore throat. I really don’t want to take bendryl for it because I don’t want to sleep right now. I can’t say much about it until I try it but I’m always eager to try new cold and sore throat symptom relief. You can’t rush a cold away but you can certainly soothe the symptoms.
I couldn’t find the Daytime version on Amazon. So, I’ll just stick with the link to the official website.
Two Degrees Food Bar in Chocolate Banana. This IS gluten free and vegan. I’m not a fan of chocolate mixed with banana usually but I’ll give this a chance. I’m working on two film sets on Friday (someone else’s as a set photographer from 6am until 2pm or so and then my own shoot for a promo for a short I want to shoot from 6pm until 8pm-ish) and I always take food on shoots with me. It’s kind of a necessity when you can’t eat just anything. So, this will come with me then.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts. Single serving. This will also be going with me on Friday. It sounds…..interesting. I think I may have a texture issue with it but we will see.
Mighty Leaf tea bags. I got three bags. Once each of Organic Mint Melange, Organic Spring Jasmine and Organic Earl Grey. I like tea. I will drink these but I don’t drink tea often. So, I’m not sure when I will get to them. I have a friend that likes tea a lot. So, one may end up being mailed to her. I will probably send her the mint melange since it is caffeine free.
Quit Tea. Well, this is tea that is suppose to aid in quitting smoking. I don’t smoke. So, I had intended to find someone else to send this, too. It smells very strong through the plastic. It almost smells like tobacco (but it doesn’t include it in the ingredients). I’m actually going to be keeping this, though because after smelling it and hearing me read out the ingredients, my boyfriend wants to try it. He doesn’t smoke either. He just wants to see what it tastes like. lol.
Also, in the box was a $100 off of $160 wine purchase from a website. We don’t drink wine. So, I won’t be able to use that but it is an awesome value and a cool thing to include in the box. Maybe I will be able to give it away. There were also a couple of other small value coupons and some flyers for the products.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my box and I’ll be continuing to get this box for as long as I can afford it. I think it’s an awesome value and it is things I can actually use. I love that it is not just food but all kind of things. I even got things for my dogs. Also, just that they have a gluten free box is awesome. So, few food subscription boxes have a gluten free option. I highly recommend Conscious Box.
