So, I’ve posted many times about how much I love The Honest Company. As I was getting this month’s Essential Bundle set up on the website I decided to email them with some suggestions (they specifically ask customers to do this).
What I was initially emailing about was my desire for them to offer travel sizes of all or at least most of their products. Since I’ve yet to fly anywhere this has yet to be a problem but whenever I do fly somewhere I know its going to be an issue. I can’t use just any random product I can buy at the airport or a grocery store when I get to where I’m going, not unless I want to break out in hives and be itchy the whole trip. I know airlines have restrictions on liquids that you can take on the plane. So, while I can put products into travel sized bottles that isn’t THAT easy to do with certain products (like toothpaste) and often with more liquid-y things (like detangler) it’s hard not to spill. So, I’d love to be able to customize a travel set or to order individual travel sized products.
On the bottom of my email about this I also mentioned products I’d love for them to make. The three of the ones I mentioned – deodorant, makeup remover and a strong facial moisturizer were replied to me about. They are apparently three products that are currently on the list of items they are working on creating. This made me happy.
I REALLY need a new deodorant. I can’t use ANY of the commercial brands. They all break me out in painful, often bleeding, rashes. So, I’ve used Tom’s deodorant for years but they recently made their formula longer lasting. Which sounds like a good thing and would be if they hadn’t added zinc to do it. I didn’t know they had done this but for the last few months (maybe 6…not sure when it started) I’ve had a peeling itchy rash under one arm ( it has now started under the other arm as well – idk why it first started under only one arm). I didn’t know what was causing it until I read about the zinc. Apparently, a lot of people with sensitive skin started having issues when they changed their formula. It’s not unbearable and right now Tom’s is still my best option. I just put lotion (and sometimes Honest Healing Balm) on the rash to keep it from peeling or getting to bad. I’m on the lookout for another stick deodorant that doesn’t have zinc (or anything else that irritates my skin) in it but for now it has to be Tom’s. I’m hoping The Honest Company gets theirs out soon.
Makeup remover and moisturizer I currently use products from DHC. I love them but they’re expensive. I’d much prefer to be able to get them in my Honest Company bundles.
Also, I wanted to share some new (unlisted on the website or products) uses for their other products.
The Honest Stain Remover – I love this stuff. I believe they make it sound like it’s for laundry only but I use it as a carpet spot cleaner. It gets out stains and smells of both animal pee and poop (I found out the latter recently when one of our cats got shut in a bedroom by accident and couldn’t hold it). I’m sure it would also work for anything spilled on carpet. In this same sense it can also be used as a spot cleaner on furniture. If you have dark colored furniture or carpet be sure to test it first (we have light colored carpet) but as it is meant to be used on clothes I highly doubt it would have a bleaching effect.
The Honest Healing Balm – this is made to be a diaper rash ointment but it’s uses are infinite. Some things I’ve used it for that it has worked amazingly to fix are; severe dry skin, chapped lips, shaving rash (applying to freshly shaved skin will also help prevent the rash to begin with), paper cuts (it stops the bleeding and seems to heal them faster), heat rash….it will basically ease the discomfort and help heal about any skin problem. I also recently used it to heal a scabbed up itchy rash my dog had and it cleared it up within a week. This was an issue I’d been trying to get rid of for months and nothing had worked (some products made specifically for pet skin problems had actually made it worse) UNTIL I used the Honest Healing Balm.
If you want to try out The Honest Company I suggest creating an account on the website and then trying out the trial sized products you can order for shipping only. Use my referral link to create your account if you don’t mind (or comment with your email address and I’ll send you a personal invite). You can create an account without ordering anything. So, if you just want to look around and check out the blog still make an account under my link and then keep an eye out on the emails they send (they don’t send many – so don’t worry about it being annoying) for discounts and special sales.
