It makes me sad to have to post this. I was THRILLED with my first Conscious Box. It was packed full and contained awesome items. Then I never received any info about when my next box would charge. I could find no info on this in my account settings. When I looked at my “Items to review” section it said I wasn’t even subscribed. So, thinking maybe since I had used a discount on my first box I hadn’t been actually enrolled in the subscription. So, I ordered another box, paying full price this time. This was at the end of January and logically should have gotten me a February box. It did not. I received a 2nd January Box. I would have been ok with this but this box was barely half full and missing all of the really good products I had been excited about in my first box.
On top of this I seemed to still be unable to receive a February box. I emailed them about this issue. They said I ordered two boxes in January – one in early January and one in mid January – and that is why I received two January boxes. I was fairly certain they were wrong about this as I don’t order things all willy nilly (they were wrong – I found the email confirmation from my last order, it was for January 31st which definitely should have gotten me a February box – not a half full January box). I believe they were seeing where I first signed up for an account but did not order (I didn’t even complete the sign up actually) and then where I actually ordered with the discount code. They said, however, that I had been charged for the February box ( I didn’t see any 2nd charge on my card account for the end of January or beginning of February but if they say I was charged for it I wasn’t going to argue) and that I would receive it. They also said they would send me items missing from my 2nd January box (including the Bee Rescued toothpaste I had loved and the full sized sunscreen). I was still confused by the whole ordeal but since it seemed i’d get my missing items and possibly also get a February box (that I may or may not have been charged for) I decided to let it go and keep my subscription.
Earlier this week I got a shipping notification from Conscious Box. I assumed it was my February box but then today I check the tracking and it says it was already delivered. The only thing I received from them today was a tiny package containing a bamboo toothbrush and a sunscreen sample (?). WTF? Not only are these items NOT AT ALL what was missing from my 2nd January box they don’t even come close to making that box worth the cost. The items in that box I received didn’t even come close to half the value I paid for it and then they send me a sample and a toothbrush instead of the full sized sunscreen and Bee Rescued Toothpaste that I was actually missing from my box?
On top of this I have not received a February box (although my item review section of my account DOES indeed show items for a February box) and have not receive any other shipping notification to indicate that I may still receive one soon. So, basically I feel like I wasted $20, possibly $40 on this confused mess. This company seems EXTREMELY unorganized and the customer service is obviously flighty and does not pay attention to what they are reading/doing. How a full sized sunscreen and toothpaste gets mistaken for a sunscreen sample (the little packet kind on a card) and a toothbrush I really do not know (in my original email I even mentioned the products I was missing by Brand name).
I canceled my subscription and told them exactly why. I had posted a review praising the company after getting my first box. So, I felt it only fair for me to post this story now to negate that previous review. This company is a mess and I think people should stay far away until they get their sh*t together and figure out how NOT to rip people off while confusing the hell out of them. I don’t know if they’re intentionally trying to take advantage of people that they hope aren’t paying attention or if they are just extremely unorganized and negligent in their customer service but either way I can’t recommend this company at all. I emphatically recommend against subscribing to Conscious Box unless you are absolutely sure they have fixed these issues or unless you are okay with throwing your money in the trash.
