So, I’m not fond of this box. It’d entirely my own fault because I chose this curated featured box instead of getting the regular box. It looked like a lot of moisturizing products and I have such dry skin I thought they would be useful.
There isn’t anything inherently wrong with the items. I’m sure some people love them. They’re just not for me.
Dear Clark Volumizing Hair Tonic
A full size of this retails for $26. I can’t speak for its effectiveness since I didn’t try it. I don’t like the smell at all. I previously got the shampoo and conditioner of this same brand and the smell of them was also not to my liking. I don’t understand their inclusion in women’s boxes. They’re obviously intended for me. The scent is extremely masculine.
derma e Evenly Radiant Brightening Day Creme SPF 15
A full size of this retails for $27.95. I don’t know why. It seems to be just sunscreen. The only active ingredient listed in zinc oxide. I didn’t test this product at all because of that. My daughter has a possible allergy to zinc oxide so I didn’t want to get it on my skin and possibly transfer it to her.
Laura Geller Beauty Baked Blush-n-Brighten
Full size of this is $27.50. It seems like great blush. I loved the texture and the way it applied but unfortunately it is waaaaay to dark on me. I really want a blush I can wear but I’ve been unable to find one pale enough. This didn’t use to be an issue. I use to be able to find super pale translucent pink bush without any trouble. I don’t know why they’re suddenly no where to be found.
Supergoop Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eyecream
Full size of this retails at $45. This also contains zinc oxide but I may try it anyway. Since it is an eye cream and won’t be on my entire face it would be much easier to make sure it doesn’t get on the baby. This is the only item from this box that I am probably keeping. And even it may end up traded if I use it once and it irritates my eyes (a lot of stuff does). Hopefully I can use it though. I need an eye cream to use until I can afford to order my preferred brand.
Whish Three Whishes Body Butter in Almond.
This retails at $24 for a full size. I tried it out once. Its moisturizing but the scent is not for me. It is paraben and sulfate free. DEA and TEA free. Petrochemical free and contains naturally sourced and organic ingredients, though. It didn’t bother my allergies. I would love to try this out in a different scent.
Next time I think I need to avoid the curated boxes unless I’m positive I like at least some of the items. I’d never tried any of these before. I’m not sure what kind of items came in the regular boxes. I hope I didn’t miss out on any really good makeup. Makeup is what I really get these subscriptions for. I’m not a big fan of random skin care or hair care items. I buy specific things that I know I can use without an allergic reaction for those things. I just like to try out different types of makeup.
I’ve decided to stick with Birchbox for a while longer. I really like how their birchbox points work. Instead of only being able to redeem for certain items you can use them for any item in their store.
If you want to try birchbox out my referral link is below. Birchbox costs $10 a month including shipping and you get Birchbox points for each box you receive plus more when you review the products. Every 100 points you get gives you $10 to spend in the Birchbox store. Its one of the best points systems of all he subscription boxes that I have tried.
