I love The Honest Company. I’ve decided to post reviews of their products a couple of times per week until I’m caught up with everything I have tried. That may take a while. I’ve been getting the Essentials Bundles for over a year and the diaper and wipes bundles for about 6 months.
Anyway, first up is the laundry detergent and the 4-in-1 Laundry packs. I use both and I’ll explain why. Both are awesome and they do great at getting clothes and clean and free of any foul smells without adding fragrance to the clothes. I had that problem for years. I’m allergic to most laundry detergents because of the added fragrances. I break out in welts AND I sneeze and get watery eyes from them. Its not pleasant.
So, I started using the Free & Clear detergents but with every single one I tried I noticed that any strong smells (like if my dog peed on something or if I spent time in a smoky room) were not removed by washing with the detergent. Sometimes two trips through the washer with detergent would do the job but often even that wouldn’t get rid of the smells.
This may be partially because I have a super sensitive nose but if I can smell it then it does mean the particles are still there to smell and that the item isn’t actually clean. I find that disturbing actually. It makes me wonder how many detergents don’t really get clothes clean at all. They just cover them with strong fragrances.
This was extremely annoying. I felt like my clothes were never actually clean. So, when I tried the Honest liquid detergent, that I got in the trial sample packs and it actually got out all the smells from my clothes, I was amazed. I immediately set up the delivery of my first full size essentials bundle. It is by far the best detergent I have ever used.
When I needed a detergent that was easily packed to take on a trip with me I decided to order the 4-in-1 Laundry Packs. They have the same great ability to get out smells and a slightly better ability to get out stains. When we moved and no longer had a washer at home I started getting the laundry packs all the time because they were more portable.
The only negative I have found for the laundry packs is that if you wash in cold water they don’t always dissolve completely. If you have anything that needs a cold water wash the liquid detergent is best. So, I try to keep both around.
Both are perfect for people with sensitive skin and allergies or washing baby clothes (especially if you hate the smell of Dreft).
