I have wanted The Honest Company to release a deodorant for ages. I can’t wear anything with artificial fragrances, zinc or aluminum. Which rules out all mainstream brands and some of the all natural “healthier” brands. I used Tom’s of Maine for years but then they added zinc to make it longer lasting and it started making my skin peel off. Soooo, I didn’t wear anything until I found Kiss My Face. Which is okay but not very long lasting. Once Honest finally released theirs I was hesitant to try it because the bergamot and sage scent sounded very masculine but this month I finally decided to get it in my Essentials bundle.
The scent isn’t as bad as I thought. Its not SUPER strong like I expected it to be. It IS masculine, though. Not as masculine as I find the Dear Clark products to be. It doesn’t smell like Old Spice or anything but it’s not my favorite. I do hope they introduce more scents eventually but this one is usable. The scent doesn’t really seem to linger once I apply it, either. Which makes it more tolerable.
I’m not the biggest fan of spray on deodorant, though. So, that is a strike against it. I would prefer a solid or a roll on liquid.
It IS very long lasting on me. I sprayed it on one morning and the next morning I was still dry and fresh smelling. Its the only natural aluminum and zinc free product that I have tried that keeps me both dry and fresh that long. Most don’t keep me dry at all and the scent blocking usually only lasts a few hours. And I don’t even sweat that bad. Which may be why this one lasted me soooo long. So, if you are particularly sweaty you may not get AS long lasting results as I did but it is definitely the longest lasting natural allergen free deodorant I have ever used (and i’ve used a lot of them).
I actually find it to dry…..my underarms feel weird and almost sticky…not really sticky sticky but like my skin sticks together because its to dry. I have super dry skin though and this deodorant contains alcohol. So, that may not be an issue everyone has with it. I’m also just not use to deodorants that block wetness at all. Most of the ones I can use don’t do that. So, its just a weird feeling to me.
Alcohol and witch hazel seem to be what makes this so effective. It kills the bacteria that causes odor. Which isn’t a bad thing. Alcohol as an ingredient doesn’t bother me as long as it isn’t in something thats suppose to moisturizing.
I’ll use this when I need to be super dry like if I’m wearing something that would show wetness and I’m outside during our 100 degree summer days but I don’t know if I will buy it again when I run out. The weird dry feeling and the masculine smell are issues for me. If they start offering different scents and maybe a roll on option I’ll give it another shot, though. And I still think it would work really well for some people the way it is.
