I ordered this myself for the purpose of writing a comparison review. It cost me $5.95 shipping. The company looks an awful lot like an Honest Company rip off and I was curious how the products compared.
The Everyday Happy trial kit comes with Shampoo/Body Wash, Liquid Hand Soap, Face/Body Lotion, Laundry Detergent and Diaper Rash Cream. Honest Company’s discovery kit comes with the exact same items except they have their Healing Balm instead of diaper rash cream.
Everyday Happy Shampoo & Body Wash
I’m not sure how to put this nicely but this stuff smells like cough medicine. It also contains alcohol and added fragrance (although I’m not sure why they would intentionally make their shampoo smell like cough medicine). I’m afraid to even try washing my hair with it since the ingredients don’t sound much different from most of the preservative and “harsh chemical” free shampoos in the store. It actually sounds harsher than a lot of them. I’m almost certain I would have a reaction to it based on the alcohol and fragrance alone. I’m sure it would be fine for anyone that can use normal shampoos….but idk why anyone that can use normal shampoos would pay the high price for this (a full size bottle is $9.95).
Everyday Happy Liquid Hand Soap
Again there is an added unspecified fragrance. All the products say things like “Lightly scented” but without specifying what the scent is supposed to be. This one reminds me of that slime they use to sell in bubble gum machines. It isn’t a bad smell. I can probably use this and I will but I definitely wouldn’t care to have a full size version of it. I’m actually able to use cheap hand soap without issues. So, I don’t even buy the Honest Company hand soap very often.
Everyday Happy Face & Body Lotion
The smell of this one is similar to the hand soap. Although it doesn’t have fragrance listed as an ingredient. On my skin it smells sort of plastic like. My hands also feel sticky after using it. Its like it doesn’t absorb properly into my skin. To be completely fair, though, I have a similar issue with The Honest Company lotion. Their lotion works well for my daughter but it doesn’t absorb in to my skin properly. The Everyday Happy lotion contains alcohol but so does the Honest Company lotion (maybe thats why it doesn’t absorb correctly either).
Everyday Happy Laundry Detergent
This has the same plastic like smell of the hand soap and lotion but it has added fragrance. The ingredient makeup of it minus the fragrance seems similar to the Honest Company detergent. So, I’m sure it cleans okay and deodorizers but the addition of the fragrance means I can’t use it.
Everyday Happy Diaper Rash Cream
This product isn’t actually similar to either the Honest Company’s diaper rash cream (which is mostly zinc oxide) or their Healing Balm ingredient wise. I don’t think it would be much use as a diaper rash cream at all. It seems to be mostly a heavy moisturizer. It would be a decent lotion for flaky peeling newborns maybe but I don’t think it would actually prevent diaper rash. The smell is better than the other products at least. It just has a light slightly soapy smell.
I’ll keep the hand soap and maybe the diaper rash cream (although I’ll use it as a lotion on dry knees or elbows). The others will get traded or given away. I don’t think this company is a very good company. They seem to have ripped off Honest Company’s basic premise but slapped their products together half assed. The products for the most part are extremely inferior to the Honest Company products. If for no other reason than the weird plastic like scents and the addition of unspecified fragrances to their products. I have a feeling they’re not as effective in general since the formulas do not seem well thought out but as I can’t even test most of the products I can’t say this for sure.
The website also seems slapped together and rushed out. It only has the products from the trial kits on it. Everything else says Coming Soon.
They had very odd customer service. I emailed them before I ever got my trial kit asking how I could cancel my subscription is I decided that I wanted too cancel after I got my trial kit. I never heard a reply but I got an email saying my subscription had been canceled. Which I hadn’t actually asked them to do. So, that was odd. Its still better than the Walmart Beauty Box which never answers my email and also won’t let me cancel. I would have canceled anyway. So, what they did was fine but it seems awfully strange that they canceled it for me assuming I would want to cancel it when I had only asked how I could cancel later if I decided to. *shrug*
If you want to try out trial kit yourself (although I don’t really recommend it) you can go to this link to order your own: http://www.everydayhappy.com/
EDIT: My hands are kind of itchy since I used the lotion and diaper cream. I don’t think I’ll be keeping any of the products. They are not for people with sensitive skin. I’ll be trading or giving them away to people that do not have sensitive skin or allergies.
