This month I went for the bundle that includes the mix cd. I think for a genre I had chosen rock. It seems most of my items lean toward pop-rock, though.
I got of lot of stuff this month. It was a pretty good valued box.
Fate the Juggler cd and Pin
No SleEP is an EP with 4 songs. They sound pretty poppy. The vocalist is really good, though.
Thieves ad card
This card describes the music as “high energy jams” and it gives a link for free music downloads. The link doesn’t require a special code but it’s still useful to get cards like this since I would never know this band exists otherwise. This isn’t my kind of music but it is always interesting to hear new stuff.
Fin Download Card
“Treehouse” is available at cdbaby.com and this is a code to get it (or maybe just a couple songs from it?) for free. The card is also a sticker (which is a neat idea). Again, not my kind of music but I love hearing new stuff.
The Monday Specials sticker and download card
“Get It While It’s Hot” is available at cdbaby.com. This code allows one free download. They aren’t bad but they’re not for me. I really don’t mind hearing new stuff though. Plus, since we make films this always gives us knowledge of independent bands we can contact for music for projects if something comes up that they fit.

I find it a bit bizarre that they don’t include tracklisting for this cd in the box. They send it in an email but I’m sure that results in a lot of people missing it and not knowing who any bands are. I would suggest they print out the tracklisting on white paper and include it. It costs next to nothing and is a lot more convenient for anyone that doesn’t check their email on a regular basis or that gets a lot of junk mail and may overlook the email.
Thank You Card
This was a pretty good month for The Music Box. I don’t love everything in it but it’s a lot of stuff and I did like some of it. I miss the candy they use to include, though.
It seems like the trick to getting more in the boxes is to not pick a super specific genre. The month I chose country was the month I got the least. Surprise or generic Rock or Pop-Rock probably get the biggest variety. That is what it seems like, anyway.
If you want to subscribe to The Music Box you can do so here:
They do offer a skip option if you decide you don’t want the box one month. I may be doing that myself the next couple of months because I want to try some other boxes and can’t afford a lot of boxes at once.
