The dry skin trial costs $5.95 (the same as the oily and combo trials). It came with the Younger Face Deep Hydration Cream , the Cleansing Gel and the Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid Sheer Tint.
The samples come in a really nice makeup pouch. I have a ton of pouches from having ipsy for over a year but this pouch is far superior quality to any of the ipsy pouches. It’s larger and thicker double layered materials. It may become my wallet soon since it seems like it may be at least slightly water proof.
The samples aren’t large. There is plenty for me to use for a week or more but thats using them in very small amounts (which is all I’ve needed each use). I’m sure people who use large amounts would run out quickly.
The Cleansing Gel seems to be a great cleanser. It isn’t drying. I think it’s helping to get rid of blackhead and shrink my pores. I don’t usually use cleanser because all of them either break me out or dry out my skin (I just remove makeup with Honest baby wipes and then rinse with water then I use a mask or exfoliant to deep clean once a week or so) but this may be one I am able to use regularly.
The Younger Face moisturizer is very very moisturizing. I can only use a teeny tiny amount or it makes my skin feel oily. I thought I had the driest skin that was possible. I’ve never had a moisturizer that was to oily for my skin. I’ve even used actual oils but this one is actually a bit to strong for every day use for me. So, unless you have intensely dry skin I wouldn’t recommend this for every day use. I’m getting a lighter moisturizer in my first bundle to use every day and i’m saving this for later in the winter when my skin gets drier or for occasional use after using drying masks or exfoliants.
The Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid Sheer Tint doesn’t work for me at all. It doesn’t sink into my skin. It’s to oily. I end up looking weird and shiny and it rubs off super easily. Again my skin just isn’t dry enough to need THIS much moisture. I’m going to try the oil free tinted moisturizer. I think It will work better for me. I just don’t like this at all. It does have decent coverage if you have skin that will actually absorb it but on me it looked like I painted my face in oil. Maybe I can use it when I go to the beach? It would work ok as a sunblock that also has some coverage, I think.
All the products have a herbal smell that some may not like. I didn’t love it but I prefer it over the smell of perfumes and added flowery scents that would bother my allergies. It isn’t a super strong smell but there is a smell that is almost slightly medicinal. I don’t mind it but I wanted to mention it for those that may be turned off by it. I thought you should at least be warned. It really isn’t a strong smell, though. Most makeup smells much worse in my opinion. So much makeup has such a strong chemical scent and then has heavy perfumes mixed in trying to cover the chemicals (I have a super sensitive sense of smell and I can often smell both the chemicals and the perfumes in products). This at least has a more natural smell.
Overall, while I was surprised that the products were actually to oily for my dry skin I wasn’t disappointed by this trial. I’m glad I ordered it before getting a bundle because it let me know that I didn’t need the products for dry skin. I need the products for more combination skin.
If you would like to try Honest Beauty for yourself all three trials (dry, combo and oily) come with similar products and a makeup bag. They are free with a $5.95 shipping charge (and tax in some states). You can order your trial here:
