I bought this because I had been craving Kraft blue box Mac and cheese. I read reviews on Thrive Market and it sounded like as close as I could get with my dairy allergy.
I also bought some nutritional yeast as it was recommended in several reviews to make it taste cheesier.
Since, I also have a gluten intolerance I couldn’t use the pasta that came in the box. I used a corn based gluten free pasta.
Then I followed the box directions just using my pasta substitute. I also added more butter than what it called for and some salt and pepper along with extra nutritional yeast.
The resulting dish wasn’t bad. It didn’t taste EXACTLY like Kraft but it tasted close enough to satisfy my craving. Keeping in mind also that Kraft Mac and cheese isn’t exactly amazing cuisine. It tastes artificial and so did this (even though I don’t think any of it actually is artificial in this case).
So, if you’re desperate to satisfy a craving and/or want an efficient edible fast meal this is certainly capable of filling those requirements.
I do wish Earth Balance made a version with gluten free pasta, though.
I bought this from Thrive Market for $2-ish. You can sign up for Thrive using the link below or you can look for this Mac and cheese in your local grocery stores.
